Countdown to Weekly Deadline

Week 22:  2025-26 Champion- Ginger Squad!!

¡Qué temporada! Hubo altibajos, pero después de veintidós semanas hemos llegado al final.

Oh wait… I forgot what country this was for a sec.  Anyway, congrats to Ginger Squad for becoming the 18th pool champion.  It was definitely no fluke despite the low pick percentage.  He led the most weeks at eight and won a week six times… no one else had more than two.  If the Pats knew how to play offense, the Plebs would have been champ.  He still held on for 2nd.  Loadtoad won the week with a $32,200 take to move up one spot to grab 3rd.

For the season we finished below the 50% mark at 49.54% but some killed it.  Let’s look at the final percentage leaders:

2026PickPercentLeaders.png

Hope everyone had fun and hope to see you next year!  Only 214 days until week one start!!

Week 21:  One LX Game to Go… 31 Bettors Make the Finish Line!!

This season started with the most bettors we’ve had… 93.  It’s been a war of attrition though.  We’re below a coin flip at 49.5% and have lost $358,500.  Only a third of those who started have made it to the last game.  Our top two stayed the same with both making out big on the Sea Chickens.  Ginger Squad holds 1st for the 7th time after winning the week for the 6th time at plus $76,500.  The Plebs took $63,600 to stay within striking distance for 2nd.  Frenchie Lover made 20 grand and held onto 3rd.  Loadtoad doubled up at $16,100 and bert won 10 grand.

Four almost made it, falling out in week 21.  Stellar Performance rode high for most of the season until the magic wore out... she fell the furthest, losing 31 grand.  She was joined in falling out by Arctic Wolves, Lucky Lee and Finnybaby.  Mikicin and C’mon Pam both lost about 26 grand.  Deppsters fell $19,200 and Fluffy Cows 11 grand.

Good luck on Super Bowl Sunday!!

Week 20:  Ale, Bread… Rogers??  Nope It’s Ginger Squad!!

After taking a short, one week break, Ginger Squad won the week for the fifth time and holds 1st for the sixth time after winning $38,400, mostly on the Broncos.  He should send a thank you letter to Joshy Allen for reverting back to his first 3 seasons form.  Plebs took the second most with 19 grand but slipped to 2nd.   Frenchie Lover dug up 10 grand and climbed 4 spots to 3rd.

We collectively won money last week but wow did we make like the Niners and take it in the shorts in the divisional round, picking a pathetic 37.8% and losing $76,600.  2013 pool champ Punxsy Hogs was knocked out.  He was joined by Mountaineers, Big Balls, Mags2Riche$, Waco Kid and Stewie.  With 27 bettors losing in week 19, there’s too many to list.  Rodzilla had the biggest tumble, falling from 2nd to 26th after dropping $40,100.  Fourth and Bowl lost $24,900 and 10 spots.  Arctic Wolves and BubbaBears both went 0-4 and gakked up 20 and 17 grand.  Only 10 made money.  Mikicin won $13,200, Deppsters took 10 grand and Los Juanchos made $8,300.  Both Sovereignty Legacy and bert climbed 5 grand.

With just 2 weeks and 3 games to bet, we’re down to 35 bettors… just 38% of our starting 93.  How many will make it to the Super Bowl?  Good Luck in Week 21!!

Week 19:  Revenge of the Plebs!!

From uncommon to common, back to uncommon… The Plebs became the eighth bettor to lead the pool after riding the Pats to a plus 14 grand payout.  Rodzilla won the week at $20,500 and climbed 7 spots to 2nd.  Ginger Squad ended up even and dropped from the lead for the first time in a month but held on for 3rd.

We finally ended a week in the black… 57.5% winning $26,400.   The leaders should beware... Stellar Performance’s long national nightmare is over.  The 7 time leader is back in the fray after winning $14,500 to climb back into the top ten.  Frenchie Lover took 8 grand and Arby’s climbed the most with 13 spots and 7 grand.  Mikicin about doubled up, jumping $6,600.  Loadtoad won 6 grand and Chriscom $5,700.

We only had one more drop out when previous pool winner Balls Out picked a bad time for an 0fer.  Going out with a crazy high pick percentage prompts a look at the percentage leaders:

Wk20_Percent.png

Tough to go out this late in the game with the best pick rate… better luck next year.  A week after jumping into the top ten, Pandora’s Red Zone Hot Box unfortunately opened the box this week, plunging 26 spots after losing 26 grand.  Punxsy Hogs got Tomlin-ed, losing 19 grand and 23 spots.  Deppsters dropped 10 grand to fall from the top ten.

Three weeks, eight games and 41 bettors left… good luck in week 20!!

Week 18:  Bizarro Season!!

This year has been something else… and a complete reversal of last year.  At the end of the regular season lets contrast and compare with last season.  This season with 93 bettors we’ve picked at just under 49.5% and have lost more than 40% of our starting total at minus 378 grand.  Last season after week 18 we were at 56% and had earned a shocking $1,160,000.  Of the starting 81 bettors, 37 were in the black… this year its 19.  Here’s last year’s leader board:

wk18LastSeason.png

In fact, this year’s leader, Ginger Squad’s $38,500 would be good for 16th last year.  He lost 10 grand but held on this week.  All that said, who cares!!  He’s still leading and in a position to win with just four rounds left.  Jumping up into 2nd is C’mon Pam after taking 8 grand.  Fourth and Bowl was even and held 3rd.

Pandora’s Red Zone Hot Box not only has the longest name but also this week’s win… 4-0, plus 14 grand and 7 spots.  Rodzilla rebounded from last week’s crusher to win $9,700, up 6 spots.  Flip side, goodbye to Dan Snyder’s Dirty Socks, Rat Frackers and Dirty Bugz.  At least you made it thru the complete regular season!  I guess the Plebs are common after all!!  Like he’s on a see saw, he dropped the lowest this week at 14 grand.  Waco kid fell $6,400, Lucky Lee walked under a ladder and dropped $4,600.  Stellar Performance could do no wrong thru 13 weeks but continued the dive losing 4 grand.  Time to refind the groove… still plenty in it.

Four playoff rounds left 42 bettors still going. Playoffs are like a new season!! Let’s flip the script in week 19!!

Week 17:  Rise of The Commoners!!

Plebs is from Latin for commoners or the general populace.  Nothing common about The Plebs rise.  Only entering picks four times through week 10, he sat in 37th with just $8,500.  Since then, he’s ridden California teams to 2nd place, including the 49ers to make 11 grand and win the week.  Ginger Squad ended even and held 1st for the third straight week.  Fourth and Bowl matched the even week and moved up one spot to 3rd.

We had another rough one week, getting 74 hits against 99 misses and losing over 63 thousand.  Four more bettors fell out… better luck next year to Show Me the Money, OHIO STATE, GMoney101 and Just Jim.  Previous top three bettors Rodzilla and Stellar Performance made up the bulk of the loss, dropping $20,200 and 15 grand.  Mountaineers tumbled $9,700, Regis lost 9 grand and Frenchie Lover 8 grand.  Losers outnumbered winners 30 to 13.  Loadtoad at 7 grand, Pandora’s Red Zone Hot Box up  5 grand and Sovereignty Legacy’s $3,500 were the only bettors to make more than $2,500.

With just 5 betting weeks left, we have 45 bettors still alive.  Let’s turn it around in the last full regular season week!!

Week 16:  Ho Hum… Status Quo

Our pool simulates real betting but simplified.  A couple things we definitely don’t do are player props and parlays.  There’s a great story this week of real betting.  A guy near Boston was betting on Draft Kings and noticed something odd.  In the ALCS you could bet the over/ under for series hits for Nathan Lukes, an average player, at 7.  The odd part is you could also parlay that bet with Lukes over 6 hits… and 5, 4, 3…!  Pushing the payout to an extreme without extra risk, he bet 12 grand.  When Lukes ended the series with 8 hits the guy made a cool $935,000!  Draft Kings tried not paying, but a judge this week just ruled the bet valid.

This week had no movement at the top.  In fact the top seven spots remained unchanged.  Ginger Squad, despite not entering picks again, holds a 13 grand lead over 2nd place Stellar Performance who won 5 grand.  Rodzilla held 3rd after taking $5,100.  Frenchie Lover disrupted the top ten, moving to 8th after a perfect 4-0, 10 grand, week winning jump.

We had a rebound week with 55.4% and plus $25,100.  On the positive side, Plebs continued his charge by taking 6 grand… Deppsters matched.  Fourth and Bowl won $5,100 while Arctic Wolves and Mountaineers climbed 5 grand.  BubbaBears, C’mon Pam and Real Deal finished at plus 4 grand.  Unfortunately we lost 5 more bettors.  Cool Cats bet it all against the Steelers, losing $15,800 and 38 spots.  Biggienorris bet it all but went 0fer.  Previous leaders sandbirdy and Shermanator, along with FeebleEbel went out with a whimper, not placing bets.  Others in the red were Sovereignty Legacy, 0-4 and down 9 grand to fall out of the top ten.  Waco Kid fell 8 grand and Arby’s lost 5 grand.

Just 49 bettors remain with 6 weeks to go.  Let’s stay in the black in week 17!!

Week 15:  You Can't Catch Me...!!

...I'm the Ginger!!  Proving that how often you make the correct pick is no more important than betting your money in the correct spot, Ginger Squad, with a 42.8% pick rate, is your week 15 leader!  He made just $500 but moves up a spot after Stellar Performance had anything but, 0-4 and giving back 20 grand.  She barely held off two up and comers for second.  Rodzilla took 10 grand and climbed 8 spots to 3rd, just ahead of the week 15 winner, Fourth and Bowl, matching the 8 slot jump after taking $10,500.

Somehow, we ended up in the red again with a 48.8% rate and losing just under 12 grand.   This is the roughest year we've had in a long time.  Some points of comparisons to just last year... the lead total of $48,900 would be good for 10th last year... just 42% of the leading $116,100.  We have 19 bettors above the opening 10 grand.  Last year with 12 less bettors, there were 35 who had made money thru week 15.  It's still not too late to turn it around... we've had huge closeouts in the past.  Some looking like we have a turn around coming were the Plebs and Pandora's Red Zone Hot Box, both clearing 6 grand while Arctic Wolves and Waco Kid both took 5 grand.  C'mon Pam won 4 grand.

Shermanator's been near the top all year but she made the mistake in believing in the Cowboys (or was it a no confidance vote on McCarthy?), leading to a $20,700 45 spot drop.  Charlie Hustle had worked himself up to relevance but fell $9,900 and 26 spots on the Fighting Baker Mayfields.  Three more fell out.  Better luck next year to Dippy Eggs n Toast (I guess Bob has household bragging rights), Karol and Big Red1.

With just 7 betting weeks to go, we have 54 alive. Let's start the turn around in week 16!!!

Week 14:  What the H@!! Was That?!?!

Betting against the Vegas lines is hard enough.  When you add in bad ref calls and bizarre coaching decisions it leads to really bad beats.  For anyone riding the Broncos minus 7.5 this week, it seemed a lock.  Leading by 10 with 16 seconds left... Raiders with no timeouts on their own 41.  It's over.  A complete pass to the 33 in bounds, running clock, 4 seconds left... all over.  But a ridiculous delay of game call stops the clock!  Still, they just need to keep them out of the end zone.  But wait!  What did the geriatric coach decide to do?  Kick a field goal to lose by 7??  Never saw something like that.  Someone must have been betting on Vegas!

In another rough week (45.4$ rate, losing over 42 grand), Stellar Performance makes her 7th trip atop the pool despite losing 10 grand.  In spite of a 42% pick rate, Ginger Squad's roller coaster season continues, winning the week for a fourth time at plus 24 grand to grab 2nd.  Bubba Bears moved to 3rd after taking 2 grand.

After getting de-clawed last week, Cool Cats had the biggest jump this week, strutting 23 spots after gaining $7,800.  C'mon Pam took 8 grand and 9 spots to just miss the top three.  Frenchie Lover and Fourth and Bowl took $5,900 and $5,100.  Plebs won $4,500 and Charlie Hustle stole 4 grand.

sandbirdy was in control 2 weeks ago.  Sitting at over 80 grand (almost 34 grand clear of second), he seemed to be set for the stretch run.  Losing 46 grand last week he slipped into 2nd.  Throwing good money after bad, he put most of it on Jaden Daniels and... shank!  Dropping over 37 grand this week and tumbled 45 spots... must be the family curse!  He is still alive, unlike Renegade Terry, appel of my eye and Sweet Little Sister.  Hope to see you next year!!   Dan Snyder's Dirty Socks stunk it up, losing $14,900 and 42 spots.  Just Jim and SpecialK fell 10 and 8 grand.  biggienorris fell $5,500 and Dirty Bugz got squished at minus $5,100.

57 still betting... 8 weeks to go.  With a season long 49.37% rate, we need a reset in week 15!

Week 13:  The More Things Change…

… the more they stay the same.  Despite never having a weekly win, Stellar Performance proves slow and steady wins the race.  After taking ten grand this week, she’s now had the lead in six of the 13 weeks.  Sandbirdy jumped into 1st last week with a 36 grand take… easy come, easy go.  An 0-4 week led to a minus 46 grand bet sheet.  At least he had such a lead that he only fell to 2nd.  Sovereignty Legacy, named for the Derby horse, is a pool newbie.  After starting 0-6, it looked like it’d be a short stay.  Now with an 8 grand take, she leaps into 3rd.

We rebounded this week with over 54% correct picks but due mostly to sandbirdy’s shank, we lost a collective $24,550.  Making a big comeback was Ginger Squad, winning the week at plus 12 grand and jumping back up 15 spots to 4th.  Others with good weeks include Frenchie Lover, winning $6,400, Just Jim with $5,800 and The Plebs, taking $5,500.  Los Juanchos had the only perfect 4-0 slate.

Cool Cats lost more than half his money, dropping 13 grand 31 spots.  Dippy Egs n Toast got burnt to the tune of minus $12,400.  Previous leader Mulligan had a winless slate to lose $6,100 and fall below the minimum.  Better luck next year.

60 still alive with 9 weeks to go.  Let’s get going in week 14!

Week 12:  Who Let the Dogs Out… Who… Who, Who!!

After we came close to crawling back to even, underdogs took ten of the first twelve games this week, ensuring our doom.  When the Rams and 49ers took the last two, we clawed some back but not nearly enough, leaving a less than 42% rate and a $125,500 loss.  Losers outnumbered winners 42 to 18.  The 18 in the black took a collective $72,500 with almost half the gain taken by one bettor… sandbirdy!  Winning 36 grand, he vaulted into 1st, almost 34 grand clear of 2nd.  Holding that spot is five time leader Stellar Performance, losing 2 grand (about a win this week).  Moving into 3rd after a 4 grand week is BubbaBears.

Epitomizing the week was 4th place Mr. Goodbar.  After a 1-3 slate, he lost $59,500 and 59 spots to fall out of the pool.  His big miss?  favorite, Georgia Tech.  Joining him in dropping out is last year’s winner Retired INC (falling $8,600), charbog, the Backyard Jester and chap.  Ginger Squad lost 28 grand, Gmoney101 fell $25,500, Shermanator $15,200, Cool Cats 14 grand and Big Red1 $9,200.  Six others lost between 4 and 7 grand.

Leading the rest of the sparse group of winners was Balls Out.  After going 3-1, he reached an impressive 70.5% rate, took 6 grand and climbed the most at 26 spots.  Dippy Eggs n Toast won 4 grand and both Arctic Wolves and biggienorris won $3,500.  Punxsy Hogs logged a 3 grand bump.

With 10 weeks to go, we’re down to 61 bettors.  Looking for a big turnaround in lucky week 13!

Week 11:  In the Clubhouse... Half Way Home!!

Stellar Performance took $7,500 to hold onto 1st.  That makes the fifth time in eleven weeks she's held that spot.  Sandbirdy won 6 grand to remain in 2nd while Ginger Squad failed to enter picks but is still 3rd.  In fact, 6 of the top 7 spots remain unchanged.  The exception is the weekly winner, Cool Cats, up 15 grand and jumping 3 spots to 6th.  With another push, we had only two 4-0 slates... Sovereignty Legacy up 5 grand and Los Juanchos.

We lost one more in previous pool champ Snooze's Spartans.  Retired INC kept his up and down season going, losing 25 grand and Dippy Eggs n Toast got burnt to the tune of minus 10 grand.  Collectively we picked at just under 54% and took $6,700.

At the halfway point, let's review.  We have almost 71% of bettors still in it.  For the season we're at a 49.8% rate and in the red just over 135 grand.  We are trending up though!

Plenty of time left in the marathon... 11 weeks to go with 66 still alive.  Good luck!

Week 10:  Come Back Performance!!

After a two week hiatus, three time leader Stellar Performance regained 1st after a plus 11 grand take.  Sandbirdy won 2 grand and moved up to a season high of 2nd.  Last week’s leader Ginger Squad had an ohfer and a 15 grand drop but slid just to 3rd.

After Indy scored an OT touchdown to win by six, there was a push… no bet.  So a bunch of bettors only had three games this week.  We still managed a positive week… 56.4% and $63,600 to the good.  One big swing game… Texans- Jags.  When the last snap went off, the Jags were the pick, getting 1.5.  A 32 yard fumble return with 0:00 on the clock?  Houston bets won.    For Jaguar bettors now that's a bad beat!  Winning week 10 was Mr. Goodbar, taking $17,700 and climbing 4 spots.  G-Money101 practically doubled up, winning $14,800 and climbing to 7th.  Shermanator rebounded, winning 10,300 and Retired INC took 10 grand.  Big Red1, Rodzilla and Balls Out all climbed the furthest at 22 spots.

Chap lost $14,400.  Show Me the Money fell $7,350 and Sweet Little Sister gave back 5 grand.  Fire Tomlin was a fixture near the top for most of the year so far but fell below the minimum in week 10.  With his exit we’re down to 67 bettors still alive with 12 weeks remaining.  Let’s keep it rolling in week 11.

Week 9:  Hide Your Ostriches… It’s the Ginger!!

… allegedly.  Letterkenny jokes aside, last year was a rough one for Ginger Squad.  He started 1-6 and was the first one knocked out, leaving after two weeks.  What a difference a year makes?!?  After winning $24,700, all on the niners, it marked his 2nd weekly win in three weeks.  He’s also the sixth pool leader this year.  Right behind, sandbirdy aced hole 9, 4-0, taking 20 grand and moving into 2nd.  Three time leader Stellar Performance lost 2 grand but held on for 3rd.

We had another slightly down week, picking at 45% and losing just over 34 grand.  In the black for the week were GMoney101, practically doubling at plus $7,500 and  Cool Cats and Deppsters up 6 grand.  11 others won between a grand and $3,300.

Fire Tonlin has been a fixture near the top but dropped two eleven grand bets leading to a 22 grand 61 spot plummet.  Big Red1 dropped 13 grand, Shermanator gave back $9,900 and Chap fell 7 grand.  Mr. Goodbar, Feel the Fury and Charlie Hustle all lost 6 grand.  We also lost two more bettors… better luck next year Goodypicks and Rock Run Rumblers.

13 weeks to go and 68 alive.  Let’s get back in black for week 10!

Week 8:  Frenemies?!?!?

Stellar Performance was trying to hold onto the pool lead for a cool month but Shermanator said... NOT SO FAST!!  After gaining $6,100, she became the fifth person to lead this year, sliding $500 ahead after Stellar ended even.   Ginger Squad took $2,900 to stay put in 3rd.  As a group we pretty much followed Stellar's lead with even betting... 138-141 and minus $3,400.   Fire Tomlin (I agree) won the week with 11 grand and climbed 15 spots.  Chap jumped 14 spots and $10,800.  Dan Snyder's Dirty Socks was the biggest mover after taking $6,400... a 32 spot rise.  Retired INC won 8 grand and Feel the Fury and appel of my eye both took 4 grand.

Through the first seven weeks we lost 15 bettors.  Just this week we lost 8 more!  Goodbye to Dog House, Sneaky Leafs, Honky Tonkers - three previous pool winners, plus Malligator Dad, Ziggy, Grounded Jets, ERV and Kick A$$!  Dog House rode the Dirty Birds into oblivion, losing $18,500 and 65 spots.  Kick A$$ and GMoney101 dropped 6 grand, Sneaky Leafs and Just Jim fell $5,900, bert $5,500, Goodypicks $5,400 and Arctic Wolves 5 grand.

With 14 weeks left, we have an even 70 bettors... Good luck in week 9!!

Week7:  Not How Many Times You're Knocked Down...!!

After 3 straight terrible weeks, we knocked it outta the park, picking at over 64% and winning $81,400.  Leading the way for the third straight week is Stellar Performance, reaching 35 grand.  Shermanator stays in 2nd, taking $6,100.  Winning the week, 14 grand and jumping seven spots to third is Ginger Squad.

Mr. Goodbar and Sweet Little Sister had 2 of the 12 perfect slates and won $12,300 and 8 grand.  Sister was also the biggest climber at 32 spots gained.  Dippy Eggs n Toast took 6 grand while Waco Kid, SpecialK and Punxsy Hogs all jumped 4 grand.  All together, 51 bettors made money versus only 14 in the red.  After roughly a third of the season, Stellar Performance also owns the pick percentage lead with an impressive 70.37%.  Balls Out and SpecialK are right behind at  66.67%.

Even though the losses were limited, Cool Cats must have lost his, giving back the most at 8 grand and tumbling 29 spots.  ERV dropped 4 grand, Malligator Dad $3,600 and both Karol and FeebleEbel tossed $3,500.  Two more bettors dropped out as Coco and Skunked fell below the minimum.  Sorry to see ya go!

We're down to 78 bettors and 15 weeks remaining... Let’s keep the momentum in week 8!!

Week6:  These Are NOT a Few Of My Favorite Things!!

Philly and Buffalo, favorites to make the super bowl, cost us again when they both not only didn’t cover, but lost for the 2nd week in a row.  How ‘bout those Cowboys?!?... yeah right.  Losing to Carolina cost us over 41 grand.  The biggest let down was definitely the hottest team taking on a team that declared their starting QB out late.  Thanks a lot Indiana Jones!!  Indy’s lackluster defense cost us over 75 grand.  All in all, we were in the red for the 3rd straight week, setting a season worst of almost 100 grand lost.  The one underdog we picked, also a super bowl or bust team, Detroit, fell to home team Kansas City.  For the season, we’re now somehow picking at 47%.

We lost another 4 bettors as Easy Pickens (-$1,700), Prez0717 (-$8,300), All Pro (-$800) and 20 Year Warmups (-$400) fell below the minimum.  Prez dropped 41 spots but wasn’t close to the biggest drop.  Skunked was a little smelly, losing 12 grand and 65 spots.  Balls Out was exposed, losing 14 grand and 62 spots.  Chap gave back 10 grand, Honky Tonkers $9,900 and Fire Tomlin (kinda like the chances of his team name) fell $9,800 and from 2nd to 17th.  Another seven people lost between 5 grand and $8,300.

Stellar Performance holds onto 1st by breaking even, definitely a win this week.  Shermanator moved up one to 2nd, taking 3 grand.  Big Red1 makes a first appearance in the top 3 by winning 2 grand and climbing from 7th to 3rd.  Retired INC won the week with a plus $7,600, climbing 42 spots.  Gmoney101 had the only 4-0 slate and shot the highest, 53 spots, after taking $5,700.  Ginger Squad jumped 47 spots after his plus $6,900.  Arctic Wolves moved into a tie for 6th with $4,500 in the black.

16 weeks and 80 bettors alive.  If you’re low in cash don’t worry… the mid amount is just $7,600.  Just a couple good weeks will get just about anyone back in it.  Let’s find the black in lucky week 7!!

Week5:  In a Dark Week, Some Were Stellar!

After last week’s poor showing, we had an even worse collective week.  We picked at just 39% and lost over 97 grand.  Losers outnumbered winners 57 to 22.  Once again, favorites killed us.  We won on the Lions, Cowboys and luckily the Vikings… not nearly enough to offset disastrous performances by the Chiefs, Bills, Eagles, Chargers and Rams.  Two time leader Mulligan finally paid the price for betting most of his money, tumbling 79 spots and $30,800, mostly on KC.  Mr. Goodbar gave back 10 grand and Coco lost 9 grand.  Week 2 leader T2tuff had over 20 grand but finds himself knocked out after falling $7,900.  He’s joined by Do Cool Shit (who had one of the seven 0-4 slates) and two time pool winner sammygig who couldn’t find it this season, ending with a 35% rate.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom.  Stellar Performance had one… gaining 8 grand and moving up one spot to lead the pool.  Fire Tomlin was even, a win this week, and moved up 2 to 2nd.  Shermanator won $3,900 to make her first placement of the season, coming in at 3rd.  sandbirdy had some kind of week with one of two perfect slates, biggest mover with a 45 spot jump and the weekly winner with plus $8,300.  Big Red1 took 6 grand, Sweet Little Sister had the other 4-0, coming back from the dead by doubling up at $4,700.  Chap won 4 grand.

Going into week 6 we have 84 still going.  With 17 weeks to go, let’s get back on the right track in week 6!!

Week4:  Never Go Against the Family!

We have clusters of people doing the pool with some families having a bunch of entries.  After this week, one is the unquestioned leader.  The top 4 money winners this week were Shermanator at $7,900 (top climber at 60 spots gained); Stellar Performance and Cool Cats with plus 6 grand and KickA$$ taking $5,100.  That gives the clan spot #2, 4, 7-10, 16 and 18… almost 40% of the top 18!

With about 30 seconds left, the Bears big block of a game winning field goal led to our first big push of the season and all bets null… saving us nearly 46 grand to CHI.  With about half of it from our leader, Mulligan, he survives his 0-3 week holding onto 1st.  Stellar Performance jumped 6 spots to 3rd with a perfect 3-0 and Mr. Goodbar held 3rd with a 4-0 slate.

Despite the push saving us, we still had our first truly awful week.  Picking at 43.3% and losing $94,950 we fell to 49.9% and below our starting bankroll for the season.  Losing big on Georgia, Green Bay, the Chargers and Buffalo, losers outnumbered winners 58 to 27.  After losing only 1 in the first 3 weeks, we also lost a whopping 5 fellow bettors.  Oh!For4, F-Dallas and All About the Benjamins had 0-4 slates and lost 10 grand, $5,500 and 6 grand.  Barbarians fell 8 grand, just $100 below the minimum.  Week 1 leader bdiddy gave in and didn’t pick, falling out.  Hope to see you all next year!  Others in the red include Retired INC riding the coaster, down 11 grand.  T2tuff matched it.  Biggienorris fell 10 grand, Do Cool Shit 8 grand and Snooze’s Spartans lost 6 grand.

We have 87 bettors alive with 18 weeks remaining.  Let’s turn it around in week 5!!

Week3: Who Needs a Do-Over?!

Gotta highlight last year’s champ Retired INC’s turn of fortune.  Three seconds left he was staring at being the first knocked out as the Rams lined up for a 44 yard field goal.  Make it or not he was gonna lose $9,700 and be out.  Do you believe in miracles… YES!  Can’t image the odds of him being alive but he is and jumped 45 spots after winning $9,400.

The early games twists and all the blocked field goals changed others fortunes too.  No one made out better than Mulligan who effectively let it ride on the Vikings (or was it against the Bungles?) and won the week taking $16,800 and 1st place.  Fire Tomlin had a perfect bet form and moved up 7 spots to 2nd.  Mr. Goodbar rode the Steelers embarrassing win to a plus $9,900 day, slotting into 3rd.

It was bound to happen but we lost our first bettor.  Better luck next year Hit Me!  Losing the most for the week though was F-Dallas, down 12,300 followed closely by Ziggy, dropping 12 grand.  Easy Pickens fell 8 grand, sandbirdy 7 grand and Arby’s $5,700.  The black ledger group included Dog House at over 8,200, Stellar Performance with 6 grand and Real Deal taking $4,900.

19 weeks to go, 92 bettors still going… good luck in week 4.

Week2: Diddy Must Have Thrown Another White Party… That’s Tuff!!

T2tuff bet big on a Lion comeback and was rewarded with a $9,100 slate, a weekly win and the number 1 slot.  Balls Out took 4 grand to move up one to 2nd.  Mulligan didn’t need one, coming just behind the weekly leader, winning $8,800 and 27 spots to 3rd.

Week one leader bdiddy almost doubled up last week, betting it all.  Unfortunately, he tried again and dropped a pool record 92 spots to last, losing 19 grand.  Live by the sword, I guess.  It was a record fall since we have the most bettors this season by an impressive nine people.  With the great turnout, I’m bumping the weekly payout to $15, matching the entry.  Still the payout this season is $798 for 1st, $159 and $106 for third.

We combined for a %58 pick rate and a plus 46 grand.  Some outliers:  Chap made $8,600; F-Dallas $7,800, Fire Tomlin 5 grand and Balls Out and biggirnorris both took 4 grand.  Bert and Mikicin had the only clean 4-0 slates.  20 Year Warm Ups got bit by the Broncos poor showing., losing $5,400.  HitMe got slammed by the Cowboys and gave back $5,100.  KickA$$ took one and dropped 4 grand and Malligator Dad took a deathroll, sinking $3,400.

Again, this thing’s a marathon not a sprint… still 20 weeks left and 93 alive.  Good luck in week 3!!

Week 1: I Guess Diddy Beat the Charges!?!

Musta been a prison break because bdiddy stole the show.  Letting it all ride in week one on the Jags led to a $9,800 win and leader out of the gate.  Skunked found the tomato juice to the tune of plus 6 grand for second.  Balls Out was close behind for third, winning $5,500.

The start of season 18 of the pool was a little rough… we picked at just over 45%.  Showing that where the money is placed is half the game, we only lost a collective $3,538.  Losers did outnumber winners 35 to 29.  We started rough losing about 16 grand on Philly, had 37 bets for over 29,000 on the Stillers and fell for Cincy’s slow starts to the tune of minus 18,700.  We were bailed out taking between 15 and 16 grand on TB, DEN, JAC and WAS.

Cool Cats took 4 grand, sandbirdy won 2,500 and long time contender Mags2Riche$ was up 2 grand.  Show Me the Money had the lone perfect slate.  Conversely, OHIO STATE and Barbarians had two of the five 0-fers, losing $5,300 and $5,000.  Real Deal and All Pro dropped $3,500.  Nobody should panic… this thing’s a marathon.  The trick is surviving until near the end for a final push.

Our all time high is 84 participants… we have 83 going into redemption week (the last week to get in).  If anyone knows someone who forgot, send them the site.

With 1 week down, we still have 21 to go… good luck in week 2!!

Season 18 NFL Pool

Are you ready for some football?! The new NFL season starts September 4th (Thursday).

See the Rules page for more info but... $15.00 buys everyone a one time $10,000 pot. Each Wednesday the betting lines for all the Pro games will be posted on the Lines/ Bet Form page but for Week 1 the lines are posted now. Each participant must bet 4 games, no more and no less. You must wager a minimum of $100 per game but you may wager as much money as you have. Once you fall below $400, you are out of the pool since you must play a minimum of $100 per game. Any game that’s a push or postponed will be a no bet, no money lost or won.

Try to enter your picks on the site each Friday by midnight (from Lines/ Bet Form page)... once all picks are made the Bets/ Results page will be updated.  If you pick the early game on Thursday, all 4 picks must be made at the same time.

If we get enough in the pool there will be a weekly payout to the bettor who makes the most each week. The weekly amount will depend on how many we have in.

Good Luck, Tom

FINAL:  All Hail Your Seventeenth Champion… Retired INC!!!

When the Eagles flew and stomped those Chiefs, Retired INC doubled his money reaching an astounding $783,200 or 78% more than the previous record.  Show Me the Money rode the green wave to reach $600,000.  He would have won with that any other season, in fact he would have won by 36%.  Honky Tonkers missed his chance to become only the second person to win the pool twice but had enough of a lead through 21 weeks that despite losing $238,610 he held on for 3rd with $305,990… that’s good enough for 5th all time not counting this season.  It really was a power packed top 3, accounting for 11 weekly wins, 12 leads and 79% of all remaining money.

Let’s look at the top pick percentage leaders (minimum 60% of total picks made):

Finnybaby        53     27     66.25%

KickA$$            35     21     62.50%

sammygig        45     27     62.50%

Calvin Ridley    48     29     62.34%

Red Lightning  47     29     61.84%

Easy Pickens   50     31     61.73%

T2tuff               32     20     61.54%

Reminder of payout... $10 for every weekly win, 75$ of remaining pot for 1st, 15% for 2nd, 10% for 3rd.

Hope you had fun and to see you again in September
